The Farming guide
If you are really new to RotMG you should spend some time checking out Starting from scratch, the pet strategy! as there are several ideas and some strategy to get your pet up a bit quicker than you would figuring it out by yourself.
If you ever decide you like this game enough to spend some real money on it, I would recommend getting at least one extra character slot. In this farming guide I will introduce you to mules and I will talk about having extra character slots but they are not required. This game is easy to play without ever spending money on it, but, there is a convenience factor if you have extra character slots.
Farming is hard to do right. Many of us when starting out just don't know what to do, how to do it, why do it a certain way and when to save or convert your pots. I will explain my method which has made me very successful.
Essentially, farming is about collecting pots, converting pots to other pots and then feeding them to (potting) your main character or saving them for a rainy day.
If your account has only one character slot or you are lucky enough to have more character slots the farming method is basically the same. Your account starts off with one chest in your vault which is just barely adequate for a few hours of playing. Mules are how to overcome this problem of one chest.
Muledump - manage your accounts
Starting out you have one account and one chest which can make farming difficult. Even if you have more than one character slot or more than one chest in your vault your farming experience can be made much simpler using mules.
What are mules you ask? Well, mules are simply other accounts that you will use to store things but not play. A mule which is another character has 8 inventory spots plus 4 equipment spots and a chest with 8 spots in its vault which means you have 16 spots to store things and 4 equipment spots as well.
Each mule will need its own email account and you should give your mule a name which is required for trading between your mule and your main account. Make a 3 or 4 new accounts to start off, we will call these mules.
*Note 1: Create a brand new email for each mule account you make. Never, ever give your characters email address to anyone ever. If you need to communicate with people, only use an email address that is not in anyway related to Realm of the Mad God. People can get hacked when they give out their characters email address.
*Note 2: When you create a new email account, write down all your email information such as email address, password, secret account questions/answers, and other information used to set up the new account. Keep this information in a safe spot.
*Note 3: I will always send newly created email account information to my main email account so that I will have all email account information safely stored electronically.
Now you have a few mules we want to be able to manage them, follow this link to the Muledump site and download it. Once installed, click on the program and it will take you to a youtube tutorial about setting it up with your email accounts. Put your main RotMG account as the first muledump account and all your mules after. If you have trouble setting it up just google setting up muledump tutorial. The setup is easy but you really need to follow the directions carefully.
*Important Note: Muledump only works for Windows based computers, I don't know if there is an equivalent program for the MAC or Linux.
*Limitation: If you are using Steam for your main account you will not be able to add your steam account to muledump unless you have it setup as a browser account as well which may not be possible anymore.
Muldump - lots of uses beside just managing your accounts
Check out my Fame Farming guide, scroll down until you see Get the white star and be like Bluenoser. And see some examples of other uses for muledump.
Your game interface, Browsers, Flash Projector, Steam
While not directly related to farming, your game interface matters. Which ever game interface you are using for your main, you will need a second one for your mule to use. A browser can't open more than one instance of the game, so to use mules you need 2 browsers. For example if you are using Firefox to play the game, then you can use Windows Explorer to open up your mule account. Or perhaps you are using Flash Projector to play RotMG, then you only need one browser to open your mule account.
I actually have 4 browsers and Flash Projector installed which means I can open 5 instances of the game at once, my main and up to 4 mules. I generally open one mule and my main when I play.
*Note: If you are experiencing a lot of lag, you may want to download another browser and try it out. Some browsers may work better (less lag) than other browsers. Flash Projector by Adobe is generally a very good interface to play with.
Farming with a purpose
If you have only one character slot on your account there are a couple of ways to proceed. (1) Farm using your main, store your pots on your mules and in your chest. (2) Select on of your mules to farm with and have your main drink the pots as you get them and store the extra pots on your other mules.
If you have more than one character slot then you can use one of your slots to farm with while potting up the other or just select a mule to farm with.
On a account that does not have a character with maxed DEF your farmer will die many times. Know that you will die, don't rage, enjoy your game, meet new people, join a guild while farming. Every pot you save you should store in the chest in your vault. Once your chest gets full then load em up and transfer the 8 pots to a mule and go get more pots. You should not keep more than one or 2 pots on your mule because you may die and lose them, so store them.
Your first purpose is to max your main account's DEF, check out the guide Pot your DEF damnit! Once you have your main's DEF maxed then he can take over farming and maxing his own stats. Everything is easier once your character has his DEF maxed. You will be living longer, killing things easier because you don't have to nexus or back off to heal.
The farmer
The Daily Quest - Loot Drop Potions
In nexus there is a door called Daily Quest Portal. In this area go to the Tinkerer, you will receive quests to bring items easily found in Godlands. Once you complete the 2nd daily quest he will drop 2 Loot Drop potions into your Gift chest that is in your vault.
Drink both pots to activate your loot drop bonuses for 30 minutes. You can check your time by clicking the lightning bolt icon beside your name on the right side of your screen. All items now will drop in RED bags. There will be a greater chance for pots to drop now and for better items to show up in your bags. When Loot Drop is active, farming pots in godlands can be a lot more rewarding.
Where do I get pots? What to farm and what not to farm
There are many ways to get pots and all of these ways involve killing gods. You can also trade, but that still requires something to trade with, which still means you have to kill gods. Each god found in Godlands has a chance to drop a stat pot. Sooner or later you will learn which god drops which type of stat pot. That is not important right now though because you can't pick the gods you kill when you are unpotted. You have to kill any gods you come across or retreat to a safer area.
Dungeons and Quests
The dungeons you will be farming will be Sprite Worlds, Undead Lairs, Abyss of Demons, Pentaracts, Hermit Gods, Snake Pits, Haunted Cemetery, Davey Jones' Locker, Candy Land, Mad Lab, Manor of Immortals and Oryx's Castle.
Wait, what? Abyss of Demons? I know, above I said its too dangerous but if you get with a group of people and take your time its very doable. I also said above that the Ghost Ship is dangerous to unpotted farmers but the dungeon Davy Jones Locker dropped from that quest is not too hard.
Safer farming method, convert those pots
Many of the dungeons and quests listed above are still very dangerous to an unpotted farmer, even the very careful farmers. As your skills get better you will find that they become easier. Sprite Worlds, Undead Lairs and Snake Pits are among the easiest dungeons that have stat pots. In fact Sprite Worlds and Undead Lairs boast the easiest white bag drops of most dungeons (still rare though). If you concentrate on farming these dungeons whenever they drop from the Godlands farming, you will be able to convert the pot drops to DEF. By converting to DEF you will max your main account's DEF faster.
I know several people that concentrate just on these 3 dungeons or even just on one of them and convert all stat pots they get to DEF or any other stat pot they need, see my page on Trading. The 3 of these dungeons drop from their gods quite frequently, so you never have to wait too long until you come across one. If you want SPD, then find Godlands and then move out of Godlands just slightly and search for the minor gods that drop the Snake Pit. There are 4 different minor gods that drop the snake pit and there a lot of them.
Since trading prices change all the time I will show what the current prices are at the time of writing this guide (Aug 2015).
DEF is 2-3 SPD, 3 DEX, 2-3 WIS, 2-3 VIT and 1 ATT.
LIFE is 6 - 8 DEF, 6 - 7 ATT, 2 Mana.
MANA is 4-5 DEF.
My main account finally has DEF maxed
At some point you will want to take your main character into the realm. My rule of thumb on any new character that is not a farmer is, when it's DEF is maxed ... go play. But first, you may also want to get some decent equipment on him, for our Wizard, get the DIA staff for a DEF or less, the Moon robe for a DEF or less, ParaHP or ParaDEF ring for a DEF and the DSPhere spell which is a great spell for a SPD. With this setup he is a tough hombre. For other classes check out my guides in Class Guides.
With maxed DEF and some decent equipment you will find that your main character can survive much easier compared to your farmer. Take your time get used to the new power you have. With care you can now use your main to farm for the pots that you still need. Drink them as you get them until each stat becomes maxed. Store or convert the pots for the stats that you have maxed.
What if I just drink pots as I get them instead of using a farmer?
Its a style of play that to me seems pretty risky but there is absolutely nothing stopping you from doing it. Lets consider my way of playing VERSUS using your main to farm then drinking pots as you get them.
Maxed DEF, what next?
Keep maxing your stats until you are at least 4/8. What the heck is 4/8? Well, there are 8 stats, DEF, DEX, SPD, WIS, ATT, VIT, MANA and LIFE. As each of these stats become maxed we say our character is 1/8 for one stat maxed, 2/8 for 2 stats maxed and so on until we are 8/8 for all stats maxed. Typically a 4/8 or 5/8 consists of DEF, DEX, SPD, ATT and WIS which are the easiest stats to max.
Playing like a maxed Bluenoser
Hey what about Sheepherdr, the farmer?
The one thing that I really like is the backpack which gives you and extra 8 inventory slots on your character. If I am playing a character that does not have a backpack then I will tend to take my former farmer Sheepherdr into a realm and /pause him on the beach or ocean. When my main character's inventory becomes full I will teleport to Sheepherdr and unload my extra pots and items to him. Sheepherdr's primary role is now a backpack! Sheepherdr also sometimes carries an INC for when I want to open a Wine Cellar and a few holy waters for any WC that may be announced.

The farmer
- If you are not using your main account to farm with then choose a mule to use as your farmer.
- Do to a very recent change (Mid August 2015) in the game you can no longer teleport from the beach for 3 minutes. The exception to this, you can teleport to a guild mate who is already in the realm. If you are not part of a guild it may be a good idea for your mule to join an active guild for the teleport opportunities it presents.
- I use the Wizard for farming because even unpotted he is a very hard hitter, reasonably fast and has a very nice long ranged attack which is safer for new players. Long range means more time to dodge those incoming shots.
- Long ranged unpotted farmers are always better than short ranged unpotted ones which generally have more time to dodge.
- I consider long ranged to be Wizard, Mystic, Necromancer, Priest, Sorcerer, Archer and Huntress. I consider short ranged to be Warrior, Knight and Paladin. The Ninja, Rogue, Assassin and Trickster are in the middle and with practice can be good unpotted farmers with a bit more of a challenge.
- Your farmer will be unpotted. His job is to farm for pots and find some decent equipment for himself while leveling. Check out my guide on leveling.
- Your farmer is going to die, perhaps many times. Don't worry about it, the way to deal with death is to create a new character, get him to level 20. Hopefully learn from your mistakes.
- Do not be in a rush to max your main character's stats. If you try to rush, then you are taking chances. If you take chances you are going to die. When you die it takes some time to bring your farmer back up to level 20 and get him some equipment that he can use. As a new player you are going to die many times because you still have lots to learn about monsters, your abilities. New players also have a harder time because they have not mastered dodging or the mini-map which shows the monsters close by.
- As a slightly more experienced player you are going to die many times because you now know about the monsters and your abilities but now you are taking risks and probably getting frustrated. In both cases just calm down and take your time.
- I highly recommend that when you are holding 2 stat pots on your farmer, take some time and either feed them to your main or store them in your vault. You don't want to die with stat pots in your farmers inventory.
- You will find that you can survive a bit easier if you fight with a group of other people. There are advantages when farming in a group because you are clearing monsters/gods at a faster rate. If there are any healing classes then you are getting healed occasionally. When in a group you just need to remember that you have to cause some damage to the monster in order to have a chance at getting loot, this is called soulbound damage.
- When you can spare the pots, good equipment for your Wizard farmer is Staff of Horror, Robe of Master, Destruction Sphere spell and a Superior ring of DEF or HP. All of these can be had for about a SPD pot each. All of these can be found in Godlands for free. Store any extras you find in your vault or on a mule for when you die.
- Don't forget to always have 6 HP and 6 MP pots in your inventory. The life you save will be your own.
- Farming on an unpotted class will help you learn how to dodge and not take hits if at all possible. You will carry this experience to your main account and when it's DEF is maxed it will only help your main survive better.
The Daily Quest - Loot Drop Potions

That is not important right now though because you can't pick the gods you kill when you are unpotted. You have to kill any gods you come across or retreat to a safer area.
- Godlands is generally toward the center of the map. Check your mini-map for large numbers of yellow dots (players) and select a yellow dot to teleport to. If the yellow dots are close to a red dot which represents the current quest then pick a yellow dot that is not close to the red dot. You do not want to teleport directly to a Quest God when unpotted as this can be very dangerous and life ending.
- Godlands are where most of the Gods are. There are 2 areas generally acknowledged as Godlands aka Glands. (1) A grey (mountains) area littered with boulders and some trees. (2) A white (snow) area that sometimes has gods. Both are called Godlands.
- As an unpotted farmer, Godlands is a source of pots although it can take a long time to get pots farming here.
- I would recommend that you use Loot Drop Potions if you have them to increase your pot drops chances when farming in Godlands and other areas.
- Some gods will drop dungeons, get to know which gods have a chance to drop a dungeon. It can be easier and harder to farm dungeons to get pots. Dungeons when solo can be challenging with an unpotted character. I would recommend that you try doing the dungeon with a group of people to increase your chances of getting to the dungeon boss and having a chance at a pot drop.
- From time to time a Quest will appear as a mini-icon around the edge of your screen. An unpotted farmer (or inexperienced player) should not be doing most of these quests as the are very dangerous. Quests such as Ghost Ship, Cube God, Skull God, Grand Sphinx, Rock Dragon or Avatar of the forgotten King can be very dangerous and life threatening.
- There are some very dangerous dungeons that as an unpotted farmer you should consider not doing. The Aybss of Demons, Tomb of the Ancients, Deadwater Docks, Woodland Labyrinth, The Crawling Depths, Lair of Draconis and The Shatters are dungeons that you should consider not doing with your farmer.
- In short you need to remember that your farmer's job is to farm for stat pots. If you die at one of the more dangerous Quests or Dungeons this will slow you down in your quest to pot your main account.
- Think about your Risk vs Reward. If you feel that your skill is not up to the task or your farmer's strength is not good enough to do a Quest or Dungeon then take a pass. Do you really want to die over the chance at getting a stat pot?
- Sprite World occasionally drop DEF and always DEX. If you are not solo then your chances are diminished as to whether you get a drop. BUT, did you know that the Purple (pain in the butt) God that inhabits the Sprite World still drops an ATT sometimes? I believe that it's drop rate for ATT inside Sprite World is higher than it's drop rate in Godlands. This is a good source for ATT. The white bag drop rate for the Extreme Prejudice and the Plane Walker is pretty high.
- Undead Lair are quite nice, they take a bit longer to do than the Sprite World and are a bit more dangerous but if you take your time you will get the hang of it. The WIS is a nice drop and occasionally you will get a Doom Bow. The Doom bow drops at a higher rate than some other white bag drops.
- Snake Pit drops SPD and sometimes there is one or more treasure rooms which also drop SPD. This is a fairly easy dungeon and it is dropped by at least 4 different gods usually hanging around the outskirts of Godlands.
- Pentaract sometimes spawns in Godlands and can be swarming with Gods. If this is the case it is best to just leave the area. Remember Risk vs Reward, if there is too much risk then why would you risk death for a measly pot or two. The Pentaract drops several different pots and can drop up to 5 items although the best I have ever seen is 4 bags.
- Ocean Trench is your source for Mana. This dungeon has now become the trash dungeon of the game. When Oryx announces the Hermit God, a large majority of the players in the realm rush to do it. Then one or two hearty souls will rush the Ocean Trench and everyone will TP to the god killing it in seconds. It is very hard to get Mana or any of the other drops due to the sheer number of people usually found at this dungeon but it has become a lot safer because of this problem. You should try to attend to this dungeon every chance you get. Lots of White bag or nice items dropped by this boss such as Coral Bow, Coral Venom Trap, Coral Silk Armor, Coral Ring.
- Abyss of Demons is very dangerous and if you are unsure then tackle this with a group of people. I find that even with an 8/8 and the fact that I do Abyss all the time it can still be very dangerous. The Abyss has a chance of one or more treasure rooms which has the same drops as the Boss. The treasure room is very dangerous and a can mean death if you are too slow on your Nexus key. The Abyss always drops DEF and VIT if you are lucky enough or solo you can get both. Don't forget that the White Demon gods here sometimes will drop ATT at a higher rate than in Godlands. This is another good source of ATT. The white bag is the Demon Blade which is a very nice sword.
- Haunted Cemetery is actually not to hard until you get to the last boss. A small group that is mostly farmers will have problems with the last boss. There are 4 mini bosses, each drop a SPD or WIS with the main Boss dropping a VIT. The white bag items Plague Poison and Resurrected Warrior's Armor are highly sought after but very rare.
- Davy Jones' Locker is actually pretty easy until you get to the boss which can be troublesome, if your skills are not up to it, then consider taking a pass. You can get ATT or WIS from the boss. The white bag drops Spirit Dagger, Spectral Cloth Armor, Captain's Ring, Ghostly Prism which can be very nice.
- Candy Land will kill your farmer if you get swarmed by the monsters. When doing battle with the bosses be careful and keep your distance. If it starts to get dangerous then nexus. Good source of DEF, ATT and WIS. The white bag and items of interest include Candy Coated Armor, Pixie Enchanted Sword, Seal of the Enchanted Forest, Fairy Plate, Ring of Pure Wishes.
- Mad Lab requires a small group of people or someone that rushes for you. The first boss will drop WIS and some good items if you are lucky. The second boss which is only available if all the white coils were cleared on the way to the first boss will drop DEF and WIS along with some good items if you are lucky. White bag drops include Robe of the Mad Scientist, Experimental Ring, Scepter of Fulmination and Conducting wand.
- Manor of Immortals can be challenging only because the darn bats that cause confusion. The Boss can be painful because he changes to a group of bats for a period of time which cause confusion. The Manor has some very good drops that can be used as Pet Food and always drops at least one ATT. White bag drops and other items of interest include St. Abraham's Wand, Chasuble of Holy Light, Tome of Purification, Ring of Divine Faith, Bone Dagger.
- Oryx's Castle is challenging to the the unpotted player but if you are able to stick with the main group as they get through each stage then it is a source of DEX, DEF, SPD, VIT, ATT and WIS among other items.
- Lord of the Lost Lands is quite difficult when it is by itself, but if it is in Godlands surrounded by gods then don't do it at all. It drops DEF, SPD, DEX, WIS, ATT and VIT. It can drop the Ice Cave which is a source of mana. Be aware that the Ice cave can be very dangerous if you are in a very small group of people.
- Using an unpotted farmer you spend 2 hours farming 6 DEF, 7 SPD, 5 DEX, 3 WIS. As you get 2 stat pots, you stick them into your vault or have your main character drink them. After 2 hours you get into trouble and don't nexus in time, your farmer is dead. You can create another farmer in about 20 minutes and you still have all the pots you farmed.
- Using your main to farm, currently he is unpotted. You spend 2 hours farming 6 DEF, 7 SPD, 5 DEX, 3 WIS. As you get the pots you drink them and your stats increase slightly. In reality the increase in these stats are slightly more helpful than your unpotted farmers stats. After 2 hours of intense farming on your main you die. You have lost not only your main but the pots you farmed for 2 hours.
- If you did it my way, you are further ahead because you still have the stat pots in your vault. I am not saying that either way is the correct way to farm your pots. But for me, I would rather have the farmer die and keep potting my main until I have maxed DEF. I know that the farmer will die and probably die often which is the farmers lot in life ...
- Once you are ready you should start trying some of the harder dungeons and quests that I said you should not do on your unpotted farmer. Be prepared to die though. In fact you should know by now that you will die many times, potted or unpotted. Don't believe me? Check out Bluenoser's Realmeye Graveyard page. I die all the time. Mostly because I take risks and sometimes fail.
- Check out youtube for videos on how people play or perhaps on how to do those harder dungeons or quests.
- Get yourself some better equipment.
- See the menu at the top of this page and check out my other guides.
- If you haven't yet, join a guild that has players at or slightly better than your skill level.
Playing like a maxed Bluenoser
- Your RotMG experience will change quite a bit once you have 4/8 or better characters.
- Some days I search for quests such as the Grand Sphinx to get into tombs, other days I just concentrate on farming Godlands. Then there are days where I will just work on Sprite Worlds, UDLS or the Abyss.
- I have a very good knowledge of the movement patterns and shot patterns of the Gods in Godlands. I know these patterns so well that I will take my maxed Rogue deep in Godlands surrounded by gods. I do this to look for dungeons like Abyss, Mad Lab, Sprite Worlds, UDL and perhaps Cemeteries. By going deep, its a bit of a challenge. If I am lucky enough to find a dungeon that is a bonus.
- My favorite dungeon is probably the Abyss of Demons and I love rushing them with a Rogue or Warrior.
- Doing quests or some of the harder dungeons are a blast because there is always that small chance for a white bag. Seeing a white bag is always a pretty site.
- Some days I just like to try and clear the quests as fast as possible moving the realm along so Oryx comes for his visit.
- Try out all classes whenever you can. You may be surprised what each class offers. They all have something different that makes your game play fun and interesting. Staying only with one class will become boring at least to me.
- Once you have any classed maxed on DEF and some other stats you can easily farm anything with it as you have found out maxed DEF makes a big difference.
- At some point you should try to 8/8 a character, the difference all that extra LIFE and MANA make is kind of the same thing you get between playing an unpotted class and one that has maxed DEF. There is a big difference and it is very helpful.
- People have asked why I still play the game. The simple truth is, I like it and it relaxes me.
- I am still playing and I frequent the Realmeye RotMG forums.
- I like to think I am approachable and will at least say hi to anyone that wants a quick chat. Please remember that I still want to play. If you can imagine, because of this guide I am usually talking to a lot of people, so I do tend to keep my chats short. If you want to ask me questions please use the realmeye.com messages. I will answer your questions there.
- I tend to play the same way I have outlined in my guides, except that I have several character slots and most of them are 6/8 or better which makes things easier. Easier is all relative though, since my characters are maxed I am doing even more dangerous dungeons and quests, going deeper and taking more damage.
- I tend to keep some extra good equipment and a few Life pots in my vault for quick conversion to whatever I need when I die. I am always farming for pots and convert them when I have enough of one kind.
- Whenever possible I will try to go to Oryx's Wine Cellar which is a good source for pots and some of the better equipment in the game.
- I have become a very good farmer which is a good thing because I am a very aggressive player and I am taking risks all the time. I tend to die a lot, don't believe me? Check out my graveyard. But, potting is easy as I always keep a stash of Life and other pots.
- From time to time DECA sells extra character slot packages which are usually a very good deal. I have managed over almost 2 years to acquire 14 character slots which means that when I get bored of one class I can switch to another class.
- Having more than 1 character slot is also a good thing, because it eliminates the need for farmer account.
