Keeping your personal information ... well ... personal, is a good thing when playing an online game. People you play with never need to know your personal information. Most people are good, decent and respectful but they still don't need anymore personal information than your game name. Even if you play with your best friend (in real life), make sure that they know not to give out personal information about you or themselves.
Below are examples of what I feel is person information that you should not give out.
If you have made a mistake and put out some information that tells people things, such as you are a girl, or your address, your school, or something that people are bothering you about you have 2 options.
Abandon your current account - create a new account and transfer your items and stuff from the old account to the new account. The problem with this is you can't transfer pets or UT items.
Change your name - This will cost you $10 and with careful planning you can be successful, but if you don't plan for it you will just be wasting your money. You get to keep your UT items and your pets.
NOTE: if you are getting harassed, send a support ticket to DECA and explain the problem. Check out this message to see how to contact support. BUT, before you do this, complete steps 1 to 3 above. Ask if they can reset your name so you can hide again. If they do this (they may not), go through the steps I have listed above (no spending $10) and rename yourself.

- During trading, If someone asks what else you have in your vault tell them that you have nothing. But, What if I don't want to lie you ask? I am glad that you are such an honest person but in my opinion, this lie is not bad and can save you trouble later. Telling someone that you have nothing in your vault stops further questions. If you tell them you don't want to say whats in your vault or that its none of their business, further trading may be difficult and perhaps a pile of questions could occur.
- When I go to USwest for trading, I take a character that has a backpack. If I am trying to buy something that is worth between 2 and 3 life then I make sure that I am only showing 2 life in my inventory. Any other items or pots are in the backpack. This prevents someone from demanding something else that is in my inventory as part of the price. NOTE: if you don't have a backpack take a character from another account and use it as a backpack.
- I tend to keep Def pots and Life pots on my mules, if I know that it may take an extra minute to complete a trade because I have to access a mule, I will let that person know I am getting a mule. Most people realize that a mule takes a bit of extra time. I may even trade directly from that mule and that is ok. But, if the person asks how many mules I have or how many Life I have I would generally tell them what they see is all I have. It could be the truth or not. Its none of their business what I have in my inventory.
- Lets say you have 50 life, 100 DEF and a pile of other pots. If you told people in your guild that you had this it may make trading with them harder because they may demand top prices for their items knowing you have a lot of pots. It could cause jealousy because you are rich and they are not. Some people could gossip to others perhaps, which just spreads the problem. Keep your riches to yourself in the game and in real life.
- Its no ones business how may WC items or Pots you have stashed or even if you have mules.
- Your game email address, game password are yours and if you tell anyone then you could be hacked.
- Give a completely different non-RotMG email address out if you must.
- Never tell your last name, phone number, home address to anyone online ever. In fact I don't even recommend telling anyone your first name. My first name is ... Bluenoser. (or is it?)
- If you are a student don't tell them where you go to school, never tell anyone your age. No one needs this information. For example you may want to join a guild and they demand your age. You could tell them you are over 16 or over 20 whether you are or not. They have no proof except by your actions and even that is not good proof.
- I would also recommend that girls never tell anyone that they are girls. No one needs to know this and it could create problems in the future. I have seen some people turn into pigs once they know someone is a girl, its enough to make a person sick. Once you have let it out that you are a girl you can't hide it.

- If you are in a guild, you need to leave it. If it is your own guild you can't go back to it as a founder ever.
- Realmeye.com has a Guild History and a Name History that I believe is visible to everyone by default. You first must make both of those private and not viewable by anyone ever again.
- You might even consider marking your realmeye profile private for a few months. If you don't use realmeye.com then you have to sign in to it and make your profile private. Just because you don't use it does not mean you can't be seen on it.
- Create a list of names that you would like to become. They should be between 4 and 10 characters. Make many names (write them down), check to see if any of them are in use on realmeye and if they are forget them and create others. Don't use a name that is similar to the original name that everyone knows.
- Go to a very busy server such as USwest. It is harder for someone (that knows you) to see you are using the name changer
- Now pay your $10 at the grey name changer in Nexus and start entering your names until you have found one that is not used.
- When you have found a name that works you should stay away from the servers you used to play at for at least 6 months. We do this because it helps preventing you from saying hi to people that you know. They may wonder how you know them. If you ever do make such as mistake then just tell them you wanted to say Hi and they have a cool pet, or you like the guild ... anything.
- Never ever tell anyone who your character used to be.
- After 6 months or so, you can go back to your old servers and perhaps make friends again with the people you use to play with. They will only know you as your new name not your old.
