Damn it! I am still dying all the time (Bluenoser's an idiot, he doesn't know what he is talking about)
RotMG - is it Co-op or a Solo game?
Potting your character - the basics
Potting your character changes the game. Once you have some DEF you are able to handle more damage. Get some ATT and/or DEX and now you can hit harder. Add some VIT and you are regenerating your health a bit faster. Add some WIS and you are regenerating your MP points faster. Although VIT and WIS stats are almost obsolete now because of your Healing and MP Healing Pet. Put some SPD onto your character and suddenly you can dodge easier. Adding LIFE pots really allows you to survive longer while fighting. Adding MANA pots allows you to use your ability more frequently which is very beneficial.
Your potted up, now what?
At some point your main character will be well potted. At this time you might want to consider the following courses of action.
- Become a Priest. The safest class to play and one of the easiest to survive with.
- As soon as you can, get the Master robe, Sup HP or Sup DEF ring, any wand that is 1% fame or better, and Tome of Renewing.
- Master, Deep Sorcery Wand, SupDEF or SupHP ring and Renewing should be 4 SPD.
- Now you are Priest Level 1, follow the Tips, Tricks, Combat and other stuff
- Use your HEAL ability only ... and I mean ONLY for yourself. To hell with anyone else including GUILD and your best friend, maybe not your Mom though.
- When your HEAL ability is out of Mana use an HP pot for yourself if you need it, and a MP pot to give your HEAL ability so you can use HEAL when you need it.
- If you find you are running low on HP pots or MP pots go back to the beach area and kill things until you fill up again. Don't forget you can run the /tutorial to get HP and MP pots.
- If you get into trouble with no HP, MP or Mana why are you still in the REALM? Go to NEXUS and heal up. Then start back at the beach area repeat.
- Once you are Level 20, you can start using your HEAL ability occasionally to HEAL others but you should follow these guide lines to maximize your survivability.
- If you have full MANA you can give one HEAL to others.
- The rest of the MANA is for you until the MANA gets to its max again.
- Do not and I mean DO NOT chat about why you are not healing other people, Ignore them.
- I play as a solo Priest. When playing the Priest I try to use the healing to my advantage and not to someone else's.
- Now that everyone has 6 slots for HP pots and 6 slots for MP pots and they should have a HEAL / MP Healing PET, I feel even less inclined to heal some poor bugger that is flashing red. Why the hell don't you have 6 HP pots? I could care less if you are too lazy to get them.
- When I play Priest, I have gotten myself surrounded by Gods and other monsters that want to kill me. Having the ability to HEAL 2 - 4 times in a row can save your LIFE!!!!!! as you try to get yourself out of danger.
- You are in Godlands and you are staying faithful to the rules. You want to collect pots. You need to max your DEF. DEF is the single most important STAT for all characters.
- Save enough pots to re-purchase all your equipment again. I did say above that this game is designed to kill you! Trust me, you're gonna die again and again and ............... again.
- Start farming pots to either max STATS or buy better equipment. Check out my Farming Guide.
- You need to get a better wand when you can afford it. The harder you hit the better your chances are to get drops. Priest have a poor DPS but once you have maxed your ATT, DEX and have a good wand you can be a good farmer.
- As a Priest you have to work harder to get your drops than any other class. The sooner you max your Stats and get a better wand the better. (I know, I know, I am repeating myself. But its true)
- If you are hurt, (less than half your hit points) hit the NEXUS key. Get used to doing this, don't even think about. You can always Teleport back into the action from the beach area.
- Concentrate on getting your priest to 6/8 or even 8/8. Having a maxed Priest is amazing. Having a maxed Priest with WC or UT tops is even better. He gets soul bounds much easier and is class that will survive almost anything that comes its way better than any other class.
- Following these guidelines will help you stay alive, and die less frequently.
RotMG - is it Co-op or a Solo game?
- There are many ways to play this game, but the debate comes down just to two ways, Co-op or Solo.
- There are advantages to playing it friendly or Co-op. You can live longer while fighting in Godlands by helping with heals, or timely buffs, using your longer range to help out a weaker melee character thus keeping him from greater damage and of course frustration. Dropping 1 or 2% items into brown bags perhaps even dropping pots that you don't want into a brown bag. Many dungeons, events and trips to Oryx can be made easier with teamwork.
- On the other hand everyone plays solo most of the time, we are all trying to get pots or items to improve our characters. I have solo'd almost every Dungeon, Event, Oryx even Oryx 2 successfully at one time or another so I tell you now its possible. Well that is not true anymore, I have never solo'd The Shatters or the Lair of Draconis but I have heard the shatters has been done.
- But, the whining and bitching starts if you are a Priest, Necromancer, Paladin or Warrior and you are playing Solo. Even now with everyone having pets, I still see the HP, BOOST, WHY AREN'T YOU BOOSTING? ITS YOUR JOB! If you are one of these classes be prepared to be hated for not healing or boosting the masses. There is no reason why as a healing class that you need to heal anyone but yourself. People will argue that your healing ability allows you to heal the people around you and that means its your job to do so. That, my friends is a crock of Oryx dung! If someone wants free heals then they can hang around you until you need to heal yourself or they should use one of the 6 HP pots they have on them. If someone gets abusive in their language mark them ignored, don't even bother talking to them because you won't change their minds. When I play a healing class I tend to mark several people ignored for just that reason, which means I never have to see them again begging for heals. Remember the keyboard chat command /ignore "insert name".
- This game is not co-op! If it was co-op then when we all work towards a common goal helping each other we would all share in the loot. Since only the people that get enough hits for soul bound get the loot, it is definitely not co-op. The lower DPS people such as Priests or any unpotted classes typically don't get enough hits in to get soul bound on some of the "busier" quests/dungeons and other type of events.

- Potting is a term that simply means, having your character drink STAT pots.
- You will see people talk about 1/8, 3/8, 6/8 and 8/8 (and others). This term means how many stats they have maxed.
- A simple way to know if your a stat is maxed, is when it turns yellow.
- A green stat is one that has a modifier such as armor or ring bonus added to it. If the stat has been maxed it will always be yellow.
- Many advanced players if they do not have more than one slot on their account will have 2 accounts or more. One is their main character and the others are "Mules" or "Farmer's".
- The term Mule is used mostly for a character that basically is used as a vault to store stat pots and equipment
- The farmer is the one that goes to Godlands and fights the Gods to get stat pots and other equipment. The Farmer gives the pots to the main character which drinks them.
- The Farmer dies a lot, so he typically does not have the best armor, weapons, abilities and rings. You should not care if your Farmer dies. He dies to make your main character stronger.
- But, if you give your Farmer decent armor and weapons he will live longer and collect more pots for you.
- During the time you are potting your main character you should also be saving a few pots to buy items to make your main character stronger. Such as better armor, robe, weapon, ability and ring.
- Once you feel your main character is potted enough and has good equipment, then he can go out to Godlands and find his own pots. Ah, but ... don't do this until you have at least max DEF. See my guide Pot your DEF damn it!
Your potted up, now what?
At some point your main character will be well potted. At this time you might want to consider the following courses of action.
- Converting all your rainbow pots (ATT, SPD,DEX,WIS) to DEF and then convert DEF to LIFE to save space in your vault.
- Start potting your Farmer. This is what I do and it helps a lot for when your main character dies. Now your potted farmer can collect pots much faster for when you are potting your main character again. My farmer is usually a Wizard for when I only had 1 class slot on my main character. But, now that I have more class slots and most of them are 6/8 at least. I keep my farmer as a Priest or Necromancer.
